Mitzie Hunter

Minister of Education

41After spearheading the development of the provincial pension plan (and bearing the brunt of Stephen Harper’s palpable hatred of it), Mitzie Hunter was promoted to minister of education this past summer, putting her at the head of a $25-billion portfolio. It was a huge promotion for someone who landed at Queen’s Park just three years ago. She’ll face some lingering fury over the sex-education curriculum and will be front and centre during the upcoming teacher contract negotiations.
