32Though McAdams lost the Oscar to Alicia Vikander, her stellar turn in Spotlight completed her evolution from fringe star to Hollywood powerhouse. She was the best part of the second season of True Detective and she starred alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s Doctor Strange. McAdams still lives here and likes to endorse her hometown whenever she can: she recently wore an army-green blazer from Toronto brand Smythe that was later spotted on Kate Middleton. How’s that for influence?
