The latest arrival to the Ossington strip’s burgeoning south end is a colourful, quirky departure from the owner of Yorkville personal shopping institution French Accents. At Annie Aime, Parisienne expat Annie Mesenge emphasizes clever, avant-garde clothing and accessories that cater to the artsy set: favourites include zippered shoes from Italy’s Veeshoo and collapsable leather bags from Dutch label Frrry.

Like French Accents, the store carries mostly European labels (there’s a full complement of sailor striped boatneck tees by France’s Saint James), plus basics from local menswear designer Outclass and products from Crawford Street Skin Care. The 800-square-foot space’s cheerful decor is completely made in Toronto: nearby design firm +tongtong designed the stacked brick displays and mind-bending prismatic racks and local artist Pascal Paquette painted the oversized tags on the walls and floor.
