Here’s what happened when Spain’s powerhouse Rioja wine region paired up with one of Toronto’s top Spanish restaurants
A crowd of hungry wine and tapas enthusiasts gathered at midtown’s Cava this week for an evening of food and drink dedicated to Spain’s celebrated Rioja region. Chef Doug Penfold and his team prepared a seven-course menu that featured Spanish tortilla, house-cured chorizo, grilled morcilla sausage and roasted lamb. For pairings, renowned Rioja wine expert and author Ana Fabiano presented exclusive pours of garnacha, tempranillo and graciano from acclaimed producers including Casa La Rad, Bodegas Tobia and Bodegas Artuke. The event was presented by U-Feast, which hosts communal one-off dining experiences at some of Toronto’s best restaurants.
