29 Every June, thousands of concert-goers flock to Fort York for Field Trip, the annual jam dreamed up by Remedios to celebrate the anniversary of his powerhouse indie record label, Arts and Crafts. Remedios co-founded the label and built it over 12 years into the driving force behind the city’s indie-pop boom. This summer, he left to become the president of Universal Music ­Canada, where he’ll deal with Bieber, the Weeknd and Drake, who are crucial to UMC’s $6.5 billion in revenue.

Side Gigs:

As chair of the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings, he helps redistribute $17 million in government and private broadcaster funding to artists. He also sits on the board of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences—which oversees the Junos—and advises Mayor Tory on music matters.
