The Sun laments government ineptitude with a story about a “porn loser”

We’ve heard of people cursing the government over higher food and gas prices—but blaming the RCMP for failed porn stardom? That’s new. The Toronto Sun reports 38-year-old Tony Marcu, also known as “Craig,” filed a $100-million lawsuit against the Canadian government for alleged negligence by the RCMP, which he claims ruined his chances of becoming a rich and successful adult film actor and producer in his native Romania. Apparently, the cop shop took too long to provide Marcu with his requested criminal background check, resulting in a squandered opportunity to start his own adult film entertainment company in his homeland. Now Marcu is living in a boarding house in Toronto, missing out on projected monthly earnings of $34 million. Of course, we’re not sure what’s worse: Marcu’s business plan or the paper’s puns. Toronto Sun columnist Michele Mandel writes, “Was [Marcu] going to make millions if not for the RCMP’s backlog [of criminal record searches]? That’s rather hard to believe. But there’s no denying that the unfair delay has been too much for the porn star to bare, er, bear.” Wow. Just…wow. Read the entire story Read the entire story [Toronto Sun] »
