It looks like Toronto’s international claim to retail fame may involve large orange lettering and snappy casualwear. Joe Fresh, the Loblaw-owned fast-fashion brand founded by style celeb Joe Mimran, has its sights set on world domination: the company recently announced plans to build more than 140 stores in 23 countries over the next four years. The new shops will be in locations as exotic as the Middle East and North Africa, as well as more obvious places, like Europe. According to Loblaw executive chairman Galen Weston, the company will spread overseas by teaming up with three international companies, just like it did with J.C. Penny for its American expansion in 2011. The first new store will open in South Korea in May, followed by another in Saudi Arabia.
