This is why the city doesn’t have any money ladies and gentlemen. Taxes are stuck on 1995 property values.
That is 0.003% of the selling price.
The city has a spending problem and not a revenue problem? If you believe that, you’ve failed math.
The thing about taxes is they value based on assesment value not what buyers want to sell for. For new condo, taxes are definitely up to date and pretty expensive. $2400 for about 800 sq feet. Some neighbourhoods haven’t been re assessed, thats all.
I agree but this is Little Italy on a very pricey street. This isn’t an up and coming, slowly gentrifying area of Parkdale or Dundas/Ossington where it would be understandable for values to be out of line with selling prices due to changing demographics. Little Italy has been an upscale area since the late 90s. When is the city’s assessment going to come in line with reality? It’s as established and desirable as the Annex as far as I’m concerned.
Also this property is huge, with essentially a large house, a bigger than average condo and a garage on the property.

the quoted property tax value is based on the previously assessed value i.e. the last selling price. whoever purchases this property will certainly see a substantial increase in the taxes.
