If a Parisian getaway isn’t part of your summer plan, the new European-style picnic baskets from Nadège Patisserie will have Trinity Bellwoods feeling (slightly more) like the Tuileries.
Available for pre-orders Friday to Sunday at Nadège’s Queen West location, the new Picnic Basket Experience includes a choice of croissant sandwich or Provençal quinoa salad plus a selection of two petit pâtisseries for $25 per person.

“Picnics have always been connected to some of my happiest memories,” says owner and chef Nadège Nourian. “When I was growing up in France, my parents took us on so many picnics. During the pandemic, my family and I began creating those same memories with our son here in Toronto. It became such a joyful tradition for us. For me, that captures exactly what a picnic represents: memories, friendship, family, sharing delicious food and having fun together.”
A considerable upgrade to hot dogs and bags of chips, the Nadège picnic is packed in a picture-perfect wicker basket, with a blanket included for a $20 refundable deposit. “We wanted the basket to feel like a complete meal and a genuine occasion,” says Nourian. “It removes the planning and preparation while still making the picnic feel special, generous and beautifully put together.”
There’s also the option to upgrade every picnic with house-made ice cream, sorbet and beverages.

“Since our Queen West location now also houses our bistro, Chez Nad, we have a full bar ready to serve delicious cocktails and wine to complement the baskets,” says Nourian. Options include hot drinks, seasonal non-alcoholic lemonades, French wines and unique cocktails such as the cheeky French Affair, a picnic-ready potion of vodka, crème de cassis and sparkling lemonade.
Want to have a post-picnic party? Each basket purchase also includes a voucher redeemable at Chez Nad for the Apéritif à la Française (or happy hour), beginning at 4 p.m. daily.
