VIDEO: How to make a Big Mac (and other valuable lessons from McDonald’s Canada)

McDonald’s has been the subject of any number of stomach-churning, PETA-offending stories over the years, and it seems that they’ve finally had enough. McDonald’s Canada launched an online forum last month where Canadians can ask questions about its food (from ethical practices, to vegetarian options, to that thing about the rat head) and have the company answer (a.k.a. tell you that the rumours are absolutely not true).

You may have already seen some of the YouTube videos associated with the campaign: in one, the secret ingredients behind the Big Mac sauce are revealed (turns out there’s no secret, just the use of regular ingredients you can totally pick up locally!), while another puts the Chicken McNugget to the test as customer Sheri N. picks up some of the goods from a Mississauga restaurant and takes them to get tested for that “pink sludge” stuff (everything checks out OK). Over the weekend, the Toronto Sun reported that McDonald’s will be airing a new TV commercial this week shot at the Toronto head office that features real-life employees in a flash mob–like dance routine choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s Luther Brown, complete with fresh veggie props. If that doesn’t put pink slime out of your head, nothing will. [Toronto Sun]
