For some, a demotion to city councillor after four years as mayor would be a humbling experience, but for Rob Ford, predictably, it hasn’t been that way. On Thursday, he did something ex-mayors rarely do: criticize his successor after a month on the job. “I wish John Tory the best of luck,” Ford told reporters on Thursday (off to a good start). “Maybe he has a different way of running the city.” (Yes.) “I just don’t like some of the stuff he’s doing already.” (Oh dear.) Ford is particularly incensed with Tory’s insistence on studying garbage privatization, rather than doing it purely on political instinct. Little wonder Tory wants Ford’s office soundproofed.
