Halloween isn’t just for kids. It’s also an opportunity for proud dog parents to force their pets into all kinds of ridiculous getups. We stopped by the Purina PawsWay Halloween party on Saturday to check out the furry festivities. Here are 22 of our favourite costumes.

Name: Cooper Age: 4 months Breed: Miniature Golden Retriever “Cooper loves to hide, so that’s why we decided to dress him up as Waldo. It seemed quite fitting.”

Name: Roux Age: 4 Breed: Shih Tzu “I always call her Miss Piggy because she makes little pig sounds, especially around food. She’ll start snorting and rooting around for stuff.”

Name: Bella Age: 2 years and one month Breed: Bichon Poodle “I wanted to have a good costume that would be light for her to wear. So I found a stuffed animal, cut the face off and pulled all the stuffing out so her legs could fit through. It was easy and cost less than $10.”

Name: Leo Age: 10 and a half Breed: Double Doodle (mix of a Goldendoodle and Labradoodle) “He’s dressed as a convict because he likes to steal kisses—and socks, and balls, and shoes.”

Name: Luc Age: 2 Breed: French Bulldog “His dad wanted him to have a manly costume, so we went with a superhero. He’s our little protector at home.”

Name: Bugsley Age: 7 months Breed: French Bulldog Pug mix “He’s a flight dog in everyday life—he’s always taking off.”

Name: Chica Age: 8 Breed: Shih Tzu “I made her this costume because I didn’t want to dress her up in the same one from last year. She’s my princess. I spoil her to death and she gets away with everything. I didn’t have a daughter, so she’s my daughter.”

Name: Hudson Age: 6 months Breed: Whippet “He’s crazy, he’ll eat anything. He’s a bit of a hellhound at home. So I thought a dinosaur would be appropriate. We’re also Jurassic Park fans.”

Name: Molly Age: 2 and a half Breed: Boxador (mix of Boxer and Labrador Retriever) “When you live in Maple Leaf Square you have to have a Leafs jersey for your dog. Her outfit won me tickets for the Phoenix game last week, so I think she’s a fan.”

Name: Luna Age: 2 years and 2 months Breed: Teacup Yorkie “We liked this costume because of the colour, but also because Luna is very fearless. She loves to take on all the big dogs at the park. She’ll go right up the biggest ones to play.”

Name: Reina Age: Six months Breed: Corgi “Reina has a huge sweet tooth; she loves her cookies. So dressing up as a sundae made sense.”

Name: Ben Age: 1 Breed: American Cocker Spaniel “The pumpkin was the only thing left at PetSmart this morning. I’m not sure if he likes wearing it, but he definitely likes the extra attention he gets when he’s in his costume. He’s very social.”

Name: Ziggy Age: 2 Breed: Havanese Poodle “He’s a good dog, but it’s Halloween so he should scare a few people. He doesn’t like the costume at all. He just wears it for me.”

Name: Lucy Age: 3 Breed: Morkie “She’s super hyper and runs around all the time, so that’s why we went for the bumblebee costume. Well, that and the fact that it’s sparkly and the wings light up at night.”

Name: Zoey Age: 6 and a half Breed: St. Bernard “She can be buggy. But we chose this outfit mostly because it was the only costume that would fit. Most are made for small or medium-sized dogs. So a giant breed can be hard to buy for. We keep getting comments that she’s the biggest bug anyone has ever seen.”

Name: Lulu Age: 3 Breed: Morkie (mix of Yorkshire terrier and Maltese) “I didn’t have time to get a better costume, so this is actually just her daily dress. She has a lot of dresses at home since she’s my little princess.”

Names: Little Guy (LG for short) and Neige Ages: 8 and 12 Breeds: Black Pug and Toy Poodle “She’s a Hawaiian girl and he’s a surfer girl—even though he’s a boy. I chose these costumes because I like the ocean myself and I think they look cute.”

Names: Chewy and Amber Ages: 8 years; 3 months Breeds: Pekingese Shih Tzu mix; Tibetan Spaniel “Chewy got the skunk outfit because he loves to chase after squirrels and other wildlife. But Amber’s more like one of those ladybugs that bite sometimes. She has a little bit of attitude—she’s cute but packs a punch.”
