They say the couple who shops together stays together—so the future looks bright for gallery-scene fixtures Rui Amaral and Daniel Faria, who share a Wallpaper-worthy Victorian in Little Portugal. Not that they get to spend a ton of time there—being an art world power duo means globe-trotting to openings and art fairs. But they’re adept at mixing business and pleasure: a recent trip to the Venice Biennale prompted shopping expeditions to Prada, Gucci, Balenciaga and Marni. Day to day, Faria favours a mix of tailored, classic neutrals that allow him to install a sculpture and meet with a prestigious museum director back-to-back. “Rui is definitely the adventurous one,” he says of his partner’s wardrobe. They don’t co-ordinate their clothing choices, though occasionally a post-dressing edit is required. “We’ll come out and we’ll both be wearing black pants and a white shirt,” says Faria. “It’s like, ‘Okay, one of us has to change.’ ”
