House of the Week: $2.2 million for a renovated home in Lorne Park
By Simone Olivero |
By Simone Olivero |
ADDRESS: 1650 Ruscombe Close
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Lorne Park, Mississauga
AGENT: Nataliya Kolydchak, Keller Williams Real Estate Associates, Brokerage
PRICE: $2,199,900
THE PLACE: This 1970s split-level in the popular Lorne Park neighbourhood recently underwent a major overhaul, including the addition of an entire new wing for the master suite.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: Practise your runway strut on the raised catwalk leading to the master suite. It gives a bird’s-eye view over the main floor, from the front foyer to the kitchen.
BIG SELLING POINT: Lorne Park has a reputation for being ritzy (it’s full of mega-mansions and even has its own Housewives reality series), but the area’s main draws are access to green space and top-rated schools.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: It will be tough to keep secrets in this house—the open-plan hardwood floors and raised catwalk create an environment ripe for eavesdropping.
BY THE NUMBERS:
• $2,199,900
• $7,556 in property taxes (2011)
• 4,105 square feet
• 6 bathrooms
• 4 bedrooms
• 2-car garage
• 2 laundry rooms
• 3 skylights
• 2 fireplaces (one gas, one wood-burning)

no backyard photos?
I suspect that the backyard has not been overhauled as verified at http://1650ruscombe.com/wordpress/appendix/ ( nice touch with including the reno photos and floor plans). Shame as this is a nice house and for the asking price one would have expected that everything has been done.
Hi Trickyd,
Backyard is well finished with cedar platform, irrigation system, walkout basement with stone facade and cast iron railings, and an architectural plan if the new owner wants to install a pool…don’t be fooled by the picture there was a lot of progress made since that photograph was take.
Your welcome to come by for a guided tour…
Stunnimg! I love all of the natural light and great big trees. A far cry from the concrete jungle downtown. The stonework on the fireplace is something right up my alley.
The closets and bathrooms are every woman’s dream and don’t even get me started on the kitchen! There must have been a lot of work put in to turn something from the 1970s into such a airy, open concept masterpiece. There seems to be a lot of space yet it doesn’t feel cold or lifeless like some other “modern” concept homes I’ve seen.
I can see this house as a real home!
Lorne Park in Hazelland/Mississauga ? I thought it was in Toronto!!! the property tax is quite low for mississauga.. i think Hazel has not gotten wind of this low taxes.. but seriously, love it. Indeed…. perfection. Housewives series ? did I miss another housewife series ? not me!!
Wow, Holy faked-up yucky trashitecture on the exterior. Why can’t we be happy with simpler lines that recall the ranch modern genesis of these homes? Instead, the remake suggests this is a mountain chalet or something. Yet more proof the money does not buy taste. Way to wreck Lorne Park!
no pictures of the yard? i guess when you live in such a antiseptic place, you don’t go outside. mind you — does anyone live here? no real traces of humankind after the forensics team went through.
It is always interesting to read comments on fabulous, expensive houses by people who rent basement apartments.
Love this house!!
Totally fab living in Lorne Park.
@The Constructor – cool! Perhaps the realtor should update the listing with the pics then?
Stunning house. It is the first house I have seen that would ever make me consider leaving Toronto.
Warning about 123 Limo/5* Limousine
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.
1. Driver did not show up!
2. We were I hour late for wedding ceremony!
3. Driver and owner lied about whereabouts!
4. Ruined scheduled photos.
5. Charged extra for driver tip!!!!!
6. Did not refund money and repeatedly hung up when contacted.
7. I took a taxi to my wedding ceremony!
wow – this house is far from the city or jobs.
i bet the tax is based on the old assesment when this house was a turd. now the taxes will be 20k
pos mississauga
As a Lorne Park resident/neighbour I watched this “transformation.” Engineering and construction nothing short of outstanding, fits into neighbourhood well, and the finished product is top notch. Luv the way the exterior blends into the community and the interior is open, bright and high tech. This is a dream home.
I want to go there.
Beautifully laid out home with a lot of natural lighting. Great finishing touches. My favorite space in the home is the main floor open concept. I cannot wait to see the next Wintrup project.
