As any ‘Licious veteran knows, the prix-fixe festival’s discount meals can feel like an amazing deal or a terrible scam, depending on where you end up. That’s why we took the time to examine the 2014 master list of participants, which includes over 200 Toronto restaurants, and whittle it down to a much more manageable 67 spots—all of which have been tried and tested by Toronto Life reviewers. Restaurants start taking reservations on Thursday, June 19, and it’s important to go in with a game plan. With that in mind, here it is: your Summerlicious shortlist, complete with menus, maps and links to Toronto Life reviews.

As in previous years, the northern chunk of downtown, which includes Yorkville and Harbord Village, packs the chi-chiest dining rooms on this year’s Summerlicious map. The list includes the ever-swanky Café Boulud, celeb hangout La Société and fine-dining destination Splendido, which is debuting a new prix-fixe lunch option.

The options in King West and the Financial District—prime territory for tourists and business-lunchers alike—are once again predictably plentiful. Many of the restaurants on the map are longtime ‘Licious participants (including Canoe, always an excellent choice). This year, they’re joined by Momofuku Daishō and Noodle Bar, as well as Weslodge, nightlife king Charles Khabouth’s clubby King West pub.

For some reason, east-end restaurants continue to be poorly represented on the Summerlicious map, despite Queen East’s transformation from a sleepy, rundown strip to a dining destination. Here are two stand-out spots among the few participating restaurants east of the DVP.

While most west-end restaurants remain Summerlicious-shy, there are some new joiners this year, including L’Ouvrier on Dundas West and Rock Lobster on the Ossington strip. Susur Lee’s Bent is participating again this year, as is Parts and Labour in Parkdale.

This year’s uptown options include a familiar mix of special occasion spots—Auberge du Pommier, North 44—and more casual eateries, like cozy trattoria L’il Baci and Mark McEwan’s Fabbrica.

Veloute Bistro should be added to this list. I went for winterlicious this year and the food was outstanding. Adorable little Beaches restaurant!
Thank you Kails for chosen our restaurant and we are glad you enjoyed,
First it seem like who ever write that article doesn’t know we been part of this event for 3 years and the beaches start to have a very descent fine restaurant, he maybe didn’t come here often
also FYI to be mention and nominated by Toronto life or any other advertisement web you have to advertise with them and we are not.
The time of Toronto life mention everyone and tell people the real taste is gone long time ago
Thank you again and we are looking forward to this year
Regards
velouté bistro management
