Restaurants serving all things covered in chipotle and encased in corn tortillas open in Toronto faster than you can inhale a Grand Electric taco. Rather than adding to the glut of new taquerias, the owners of La Carnita, one of the first shops to embrace the taco trend, are diversifying their culinary lineup with Home of the Brave, a new American-themed restaurant that will open on clubby King West in August. The menu is still in the works, but early reports from La Carnita sous-chef Nate Middleton, who’s going to run the kitchen in the new space, suggest that it’ll include the sloppy, ball-park variety of Americana: think chili dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and ranch-flavoured coleslaw.
