Eden and Don Hazan are on a mission to pump Torontonians up with protein, one pizza at a time. The Toronto brothers are behind Dreamcrust, a line of frozen pies made with a protein-heavy dough—so you don’t have to choose between pizza and grilled chicken breast.

The Hazans have a storied pizza past. The family moved to Canada in the ’90s, settling in Edmonton, where they opened a pizzeria in the West Edmonton Mall. When they moved to Toronto four years later, they launched King David Pizza, a line of frozen pies.

“With our family being in the pizza game for over 30 years, we always dreamed about creating a high-protein pizza made with better ingredients. Then, four years ago, someone knocked on our door who specialized in incredible keto-based mixes for bakery-related products,” says Eden. “At first, the goal was to combine our skills and accept the challenge of creating the world’s first keto-friendly frozen pizza—one that’s healthy without tasting healthy. With time, this transitioned into a much simpler vision: a better way to pizza.”

The brothers launched Dreamcrust in May of 2024 with three gourmet flavours: classic mozzarella, plant-based pepperoni and veggie lover. Each serving contains at least 17 grams of protein—and if you eat a whole pie, that means you’re getting 50 grams of the stuff. The pizzas are available for sale online and in the freezers at Ambrosia, McEwan’s Fine Foods and a handful of specialty grocers throughout the GTA.

The Hazans are also gearing up to launch what they’re calling the world’s first pizza club: the Dreamerz Club will offer members-only recipes, merchandise, recipes and rewards. There’s already a wait list to join.

As for competing with Toronto pizza giants like Pizzeria Badiali, Eden feels like he and his brother have their market secured. “If you’re going to eat a fresh slice at Badiali, there’s absolutely no competition—the line is well worth the wait,” he says. “But, if you’re ordering Badiali and bringing it home, we win every time. Pizza was meant to be enjoyed within one to two minutes of coming out of the oven. Dreamcrust is the pizza-night-in experience you never knew existed.”
