According to Square’s report, in a survey conducted by Leger, 62 per cent of respondents said they planned to buy Canadian exclusively. This could be part of an ongoing movement in which Canadians are boycotting American businesses due to US President Donald Trump’s aggressive use of tariffs and “51st state” rhetoric. Sixty-two per cent of respondents also said they would shop locally even if it meant spending more.
As for what they’ll spend that money on, perhaps shoppers are in the market for a crocheted pizza purse? Ceramic tableware from Louf? How about a medieval sound machine?
