It’s a classic story: boy notices girl, boy check out girl’s Myspace profile, boy summons courage to ask girl out. So it was for musician Adam Boyle, 37, and graphic designer Kristine Do, 29. She was a design student hosting a fundraiser at The Boat in Kensington Market and he was the drummer in the band. Later that summer they went on a camping trip, where they lay in their tent talking about music long enough to realize they were a match. Adam, eight years older, was ready to settle down so they struck a deal: Kristine would propose when she was ready. Six years later Adam ran out of patience and blurted out the question one lazy morning in bed. (As luck would have it, Kristine was already planning and elaborate surprise, which she’s saving it for the next special occasion.) When it came to planning the wedding, the couple didn’t want anything overly traditional. They didn’t have a bridal party. They registered at record emporium Rotate This. Their officiant was Helen Sweet from The Brides’ Project, which sells used bridal gowns to raise money for cancer charities. And, for her own dress, Kristine lucked upon a not-too-bridal Rodarte evening gown at an end-of-season sale.
