Nordstrom confirms it will open four Canadian stores, including one in Toronto

As was rumoured earlier this summer, Nordstrom is indeed planning to open four department stores in Canada (meaning Canadians will finally be able to take part in the legendary anniversary sale). This morning, the retailer confirmed it has signed leases for former Sears locations in Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa, and for a new store in Toronto’s Sherway Gardens. However, Toronto shoppers have a long wait ahead, as the stores will also open in that order, starting with Calgary in 2014. The plan is to eventually open up to nine stores in Canada—unless a Bloomingdale’s–Hudsons’s Bay Company partnership beats them to the punch. [CTV]
Oh Come on! Sears is not shutting down the Eaton Centre store?!!! Bomber!
Sherway Gardens is barely Toronto…
I hope more American retailers move to this Country so taht there is more to choose from and then i can love shopping again!
First Zellers is killed, now Nordstrom will take Holt Renfrew out to the woodshed. Things are looking up.
WRONG ! Holts is much more high end then Nordstrom, & those of us who shop there are certainly not about to journey that far out of the city to “Sherway Gardens” wherever that is exctly.. Yorkdale is far enough !
How stupid to pick sherway for nordstoms its yorkdale or yorkville if they r sohigh end
Gimmie a Nordstrom Rack or nothing. Why would I pay full price at a Nordstrom when the Rack sells it for a fraction of the price?
Nordstrom Rack OWNSSSS Holts. easy
Have you not been to Sherway Gardens lately? Many high end stores there now. Don’t knock it if you don’t know what’s there. It’s a great mall. And the Sears there is nice as well. We can’t judge all Sears stores the same because they are all very different and I give it a thumbs up at Sherway. It’s one store there that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg!
I guess Sears signed a long lease w the Eaton Centre. I bet the landlords are wishing they hadn’t opened a crappy tire there now. Big box stores don’t belong downtown attached to what is supposed to be the city’s best shopping centres.
Sherway is a great location. High end mall in the west end. Just as high end as Yorkdale or anything downtown.
