You knew we weren’t getting out of here without seeing some shag carpeting, right?

The history

The seller bought 164 Langley around 50 years ago and hasn’t done much to it since then. Now it’s time to move into a retirement facility, which means getting rid of the house.

The fate

The buyer’s exact plans are unclear, but it’s hard to imagine that anyone with more than a million dollars to spend wouldn’t be planning some serious upgrades. Getting rid of the second-floor kitchen might be a good place to start.

The sale

There were five offers. The winning one was $278,000 over the asking price.

By the numbers

• $1,128,000 • $4,747.01 in taxes (2016) • 2,023 square feet • 8 days on MLS • 5 bedrooms • 2 bathrooms • 2 kitchens
