Sansotei, one of the many Japanese noodle shops to infiltrate the downtown core in the past year, has landed on an impressive number of best-in-the-city lists since opening last fall. Now the ramen bar is capitalizing on its success with second outpost at Yonge and Bloor—an area better known for fast food outlets and payday loan shops than trendy restaurants. Japan-trained chef Michael Zhang isn’t messing with a winning formula: the new, slightly roomier location, which opens late this year at 650 Yonge Street, will reportedly look and taste much like the original, with an identical selection of Japanese beers, fried appetizers and rich, pork belly–topped noodle bowls.
