The Food: Chef De Andrade hails from Côte d’Azur on the French Riviera. His classic bistro menu is about as decadent as it gets: foie gras on brioche, escargots tucked in puff-pastry baskets and steak smothered in creamy Bearnaise.
The Place: This new uptown bistro is a spin-off of the Pain Perdu pâtisserie on St. Clair, which is well-known for its croissants and other French confections. The simple white-walled room (formerly another bistro called Steak Frites) is decorated with colourful canvases by chef Evaristo De Andrade, who is also an accomplished artist.
