It’s official: Toronto is in its steakhouse era. In the past year alone, the city has been graced with at least three splashy new red meat–obsessed restaurants, including a deli-inspired one (Linny’s), a clubby King West one (Animl) and even one inside Union Station (Blue Bovine). Both Harbour 60 and Jacobs and Co. were recently given serious glow-ups, and we’re just days away from Sammarco, chef Rob Rossi’s Italian bisteccheria opening on Front Street. Unless you’re a cow, there’s no need to worry about whether we’re all getting enough protein these days.
Now, the BC-based restaurant group that brought us Black and Blue—the two-storey, 9,000-square-foot, 24-karat-gilded steakhouse in the old TSX space—is launching its newest heifer of a project: Riley’s Fish and Steak, a seafood spot and chophouse that already has a Michelin-recommended location in Vancouver’s chic Coal Harbour neighbourhood. “Toronto is one of the most dynamic culinary cities in North America, and we’re thrilled to expand our presence here,” says Emad Yacoub, president and CEO of Glowbal Restaurant Group. Slated to open in early 2026, Riley’s will move into the 8,000-square-foot space left behind by the Shore Club.

The turf portion of the menu will feature prime Canadian steaks and roast beef carved tableside, but the standout dishes will all hail from the deep blue sea. Think oysters Rockefeller, crab cakes and piscine takes on nostalgic comfort food classics, including lobster pot pie and shrimp bolognese. The star of the surf section will be the King, a seafood tower stacked with freshly shucked oysters, jumbo poached tiger prawns, king crab, marinated mollusks, tuna tataki, scallop crudo and Atlantic lobster. The move mirrors what’s happening at the new Jacobs and Co., which is now dry-aging just as much fish as it is beef. Toronto is still riding the red-meat wave, but it looks like the tide may be turning.
