Every time restaurateur and super chef Claudio Aprile opens a new restaurant, he seems to close one shortly after. Last year, he shuttered the lauded Colborne Lane in the midst of expanding his Origin brand. Now, he has closed Origin Liberty just months after launching Origin North in North York.

Aprile wasn’t immediately available for comment, but the closure comes as a bit of a surprise: the restaurant was well-received, and Aprile seemed intent on opening Origins across the city. Origin Liberty’s website has already been taken down, but the two other Origins remain open as usual.
