Archie’s, a new spot for cold beer and hot burgers, is coming to Queen and Broadview, right across the street from where Dangerous Dan’s used to be (RIP). Replacing the Civic, the Broadview Hotel’s street-level bistro, Archie’s will bring a more casual, nostalgia-driven vibe to the Riverside landmark later this spring.

The new restaurant is named after Archibald Dingman, a serial entrepreneur who built the property in 1891. Then known as Dingman’s Hall, it was a lively social gathering place for a growing east-end community. The space later became home to the strip club Jilly’s, just one chapter of the building’s history that Archie’s will pay subtle tribute to.

“We wanted the menu to feel familiar but still exciting. Classics like steak pot pie and chicken supreme will feature alongside burgers like the Jalapeño Smash and the Pineapple Teriyaki,” says executive chef Artem Shcherbina. “Each dish is designed to spark a memory or create a new one around the table. The drinks follow the same idea, with approachable cocktails and a few playful ‘if you know, you know’ nods to the building’s history, including the Pole Dancer and the White Tiger.”

Hotel guests and locals will be able to grab a burger and a beer, watch the game, shoot a round of pool or hop into a photo booth to capture the occasion in a more analog way.

“Archie’s is our commitment to creating a true gathering place for the Riverside community,” says food and beverage director Jason Chapman. “We’re bringing a familiar, welcoming atmosphere paired with a menu designed for all ages to enjoy. Whether guests are here to watch a game or reconnect over great food, we want Archie’s to feel like their go-to spot.”
