Long-time columnist Rob Granatstein mysteriously let go from the Toronto Sun

After 17 years at the Sun, most recently as the head of the editorial page, Rob Granatstein was let go by the paper on Wednesday. By Thursday, Granatstein was getting so much love on Twitter that his handle (@robedits) was trending in Toronto. Why the separation? According to Torontoist, both Granatstein and Sun editor-in-chief James Wallace are staying mum on the subject. But Toronto Sun Family, a blog that caters to former Sun employees, speculated that Granatstein wasn’t pro–Rob Ford enough, or that he had some objection to the Suns recent move out of the Ontario Press Council.
