(A 2013 report from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says $750 is roughly the average monthly price for a full bachelor apartment in Toronto’s east end.) Jilly’s closed for good on Sunday, but the upstairs tenants, many of whom are on some form of social assistance, are being given extra time and financial help as they look for new housing.
