The Grid may have suffered an untimely collapse, but that hasn’t stopped the Toronto Star, which is owned by the late publication’s parent company, from looting some of the best talent from the wreckage. Earlier today, Edward Keenan—The Grid’s incisive senior editor and city columnist, the author of seemingly half of its cover stories in the latter days, and a one-time senior editor of its predecessor, Eye Weekly—announced that he has taken a full-time position as a columnist at the Star, where his mandate will reportedly be “broad.” A nice, union job like that is the closest thing to tenure a Toronto journalist can get.
