“Everybody wants to know about this fucking sign. If people cared as much about the business as the sign, we wouldn’t have a problem with the sign.”

Sam Grosso, co-owner of the El Mocambo, grousing to the Star about his decision to concede to public pressure and remove the legendary club’s palm-tree sign from eBay. The building has sold, conditionally, to a buyer believed to be interested in ending the El Mo’s days as a music venue.
