Avery Edison, the transgendered British woman who was held in a men’s jail after being denied entry to Canada at Pearson airport (and who became internet-famous for the same), has filed separate human-rights complaints against the customs and corrections officials who handled her case, according to the Star. Edison, through her lawyer Jonathan Schachter, is asking the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Canadian Human Rights Commission to order Ontario correctional facilities and Canada Border Services to adopt policies that are more sensitive to the needs of trans people.
