Toronto Life kicks off TIFF with its annual Stylebook event

On September 10, Toronto Life celebrated the fifth annual fall edition of special issue Stylebook and the annual list of the city’s best dressed. The exclusive, invite-only event was held at the Trump Toronto Hotel and showcased the best of red carpet style on the opening night of TIFF.

The celebration brought out actors Jennifer Podemski (Blackstone), Mélanie St-Pierre (Heroes Reborn), Aislinn Paul (Degrassi) and Sophie Tweed-Simmons (Gene Simmons: Family Jewels); designers John Muscat (Line Knitwear), and Dean and Dan Caten (DSquared), TV personalities Tracy Moore (Cityline), Liza Fromer (Global News), Tyrone Edwards (E!) and Nil Koksal (CBC); singers Kardinal Offishall, Keshia Chanté‎, Calvin Love and Mia Martina; and Toronto influencers Kim Tanenbaum, Jay Strut, Kirk Pickersgill, and Tony and Lina Gagliano.

The guests of honour—Toronto Life’s Best Dressed of 2015—naturally arrived in style and included lawyer Marie Henein, actor Dan Levy, CEO Michael Wekerle, Kofi Gyeke, and model Aluad Anei, among others.

The stylish crowd indulged in appetizers and desserts by Oliver & Bonacini while sipping bespoke cocktails from Stoli Elit and bottles of Stella Artois. Highlights of the evening included Aveda’s primp station where guests could take advantage of hair and makeup touch-ups; Infiniti’s Q50 model stretched across the red carpet outside; Swarovski’s sparkling display of statement jewelry; complimentary shoe shines (and whiskey) from Loding; and John Varvatos’ backstage lounge that featured a fragrance sampling bar and a signature cocktail—the Dark Rebel by Stoli Elit. On the ninth floor, Lumas developed a beautiful gallery wall and lounge, while one floor up was Damien Hirst’s “For the Love of God” and Matthew Cusick’s cutwork art installation, “Genevieve’s Wave,” of which guests were invited to take home one of its many pieces. The Trump Ballroom was decked out with Best Dressed decals, and the much-photographed Toronto Life doughnut wall and a Toronto Life balloon wall adorned with the honourees’ names.
