Yorkdale Mall is getting a Nordstrom store and another fancy new expansion

Less than five months after unveiling its swanky 145,000-square-foot expansion, Yorkdale Shopping Centre has announced plans for another addition more than twice that size. Next January, construction begins on a new 298,000-square-foot space that will be anchored by a three-level Nordstrom store (increasing Toronto’s incoming Nordstrom count to two). The rest of the new retailers will be announced closer to the fall 2016 competition date, but based on Yorkdale’s recent success nabbing high-profile retailers, we’re expecting some big names. We’re also expecting to need comfortable shoes—if not Segways—to traverse the ever-growing mall.
Nordstrom, for sure (small sized shoes! So hard to get 4 1/2 and 5 elsewhere, except maybe Holt Renfrew). But is this Nordstrom REALLY “full service”? Nordstrom in the US carries Topshop. The licence in Canada belongs to the Bay.
