Last Saturday night, A Night Out for UHN debuted at the Ritz-Carlton, drawing a well-heeled crowd in support of the UHN Foundation. Presented by Sprott, the gala raised $2.3 million in support of the hospital and brought together the city’s business, philanthropic and social sets for an evening of dinner, drinks and big-ticket entertainment, including a performance by Grammy- and Juno-nominated Tenors member Mark Masri. The room was heavy on classic black-tie polish, but there were also flashes of glitter, velvet and spring-ready colour palettes. Here are some of the night’s best looks.

Julie Quenneville, CEO of the UHN Foundation
“I bought my dress in Montreal, where I’m originally from. I wanted something that reminded me a little of Bridgerton, which is my favourite show right now. It has that pouffy, princess-y look about it. It’s not something you’d be able to wear to just anything, and this is a very special event for us.”

Susan Rimmer, senior executive vice-president at CIBC, and Marc Dupuis-Desormeaux, wildlife biologist
Susan: “I have three dresses from Greta Constantine, but this one is my favourite. The shawl is racoon fur. It’s from Holt Renfrew, and it has a beautiful beaded tail. I initially took out the usual black dress, but I put it back. We’re celebrating tonight, and I wanted to wear some colour.”

Shinan Govani, society columnist
“The tie is old-school Armani from the ’80s. I got it from my dad. Wider ties are trending again. The whole skinny silhouette is over.”

Michael Walsh, president and managing director at a financial group, and Anna-Maria Kaneff, real estate manager
Anna-Maria: “I wanted something that accentuated my femininity. I was inspired by the elegance of this event.”

Nisha Nigil Haroon, endocrinologist, and Nigil Haroon, clinician scientist
Nisha: “I got the top from Paris. I don’t usually wear gowns, so I went with a jumpsuit tonight. It still feels semi-formal but a little playful. I’ve been saving it for the right occasion.”

Dolores Larrier, chief strategic philanthropy officer at the UHN Foundation
“It’s a black-tie event, but I wanted to wear something a little different. The designer is Monique Lhuillier. The necklace is from my late husband.”

Angela DeVito, interior designer, and Mark Masri, musician and producer
Angela: “I loved the beading details on this dress. It’s from Rachel Gilbert, who is an Australian designer. I wanted to go for an elegant but fitted look.”

Joanne Kearney, UHN Foundation board member, and Brendan Cahill, president at Energold Minerals
Joanne: “My dress is from a little beach town in Mexico, and my tennis necklace is from the Susan Malcolm Collection. I wanted to wear something that would bring a little fun to a black-tie event.”

Mandy Kulic, corporate analyst
“I love this layered skirt, and a black-tie event seemed like the perfect night to wear it. The shirt is Fleur du Mal. I wanted to feel classic and sexy.”

Leslie Richmond, asset management
“This dress is from Monique Lhuillier. I’m channelling spring. It hasn’t really come to Toronto yet, but it felt like it was time to lighten the colour palette and sparkle for UHN.”

Rachna Kapoor, logistics and distribution, and Mohit Kapoor, co-director of the Schroeder Arthritis Institute
Rachna: “I love jumpsuits, and I was trying to wear anything other than black. Everyone shows up in black when it’s a black-tie event, but I felt like we needed some colour. For my husband’s jacket, I bought it and told him to wear it tonight. It’s velvet.”
