U.S. retailer Express comes to town, adding to America’s takeover of Toronto real estate

Inexpensive maxi skirts, nautical-themed options and Daisy Dukes are among the must-have looks from U.S. retailer Express (as listed on its website), and those looking to cheaply channel Kate Bosworth, Jean Seberg and Jessica Simpson will be happy to hear the brand’s recent announcement: Express is coming to Canada. The chain announced this week that five stores will be opening in Canada this fall, including one at Fairview Mall, while larger plans include a swift expansion, with 50 stores opening Canada-wide in the next five years. There seems to be a demand for big box business, because there’s been a huge crush of American activity recently, with announcements that Intermix, J Crew and Target will be breaking ground. What’s next, a push for Caché?
