Brisk sales of Mulberry’s iconic handbags at Holt Renfrew spurred the upscale English brand to launch two Toronto locations simultaneously: one along the traditional luxury shopping stretch on Bloor West and another in the newly high-end Yorkdale Mall. Both stores carry a full range of leather bags, along with luggage, accessories for men and women and a small selection of women’s ready-to-wear clothing.

The 1,360-square-foot Bloor Street boutique in Lacoste’s former digs is geared to residents of nearby condo towers and international travellers. It skews more formal than the Yorkdale location with a greater emphasis on suiting and dressy outfits. Our current favourites: the ingenious Willow Tote ($2,100 and up) which has a zip-off clutch on the front, and an embroidered wool dress ($2,700) that embraces Mulberry’s whimsical identity as well as its more recent push for sophistication.
