Toronto Fashion Week trends: putting a hat on it

Whoever said fashion isn’t practical hasn’t met these “CanadaCool” kids from last night’s shows at Toronto Fashion Week. When it rains and you can’t find an umbrella, look no further than a Russian-inspired fur hat, perfect for collecting water. But why stop with something so bulbous? Craniums are so hot right now, so try wearing something that is so fitted it conforms to the shape of your head, like a turban or a slouchy toque, because now that Colin Farrell has stopped doing it, there’s no excuse not to. Our favourite was the pompom atop a shrunken knit toque—circulation to the brain is so overrated, anyway. Hats were the item of the night, seen on at least 40 people, and why not? It’s about time people started wearing hats again.
