While we cling to the last vestiges of TIFF for dear life, some other news has crossed our desks this week: amid the constant moaning of editors who once had to trek all the way to the Exhibition to cover fashion week (four-inch heels don’t mix well with the Dufferin bus), the Fashion Design Council of Canada has announced that it’s moving festivities this season to David Pecault Square at 221 King St. W., beside Roy Thompson Hall, officially bringing fashion shows back downtown. This year’s theme is “Canada Cool” (how inspired, FDCC; previous themes have included “The Power of Style” and “The Business of Fashion”), so expect, we don’t know, maple leaves and cable-knit sweater tumbleweeds (or something), to adorn this year’s runways. Look out for our complete runway coverage from October 17 to 21.
