Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo opened its first Toronto store in Yorkdale Shopping Centre last week, giving the mall’s high-end cred its biggest boost to date. The Florentine brand has long been known for impeccable leather goods, silk scarves and the classic Vara pump (beloved by Upper East Siders and Alexa Chung), all of which are prominently displayed in the 3,000-square-foot boutique. Pieces from creative director Massimiliano Giornetti’s fall 2013 women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections are also already arriving and racks are heavy with black leather, fur and occasional blasts of rich colour.
