Expensive jeans for everyone, as Seven For All Mankind opens at Yorkdale

Seven For All Mankind, one of the pioneers of the obscenely expensive denim trend in those heady early noughties, opened a Toronto store today at Yorkdale. That won’t come as a surprise to retail watchers, as Yorkdale has already managed to get J. Crew, Burberry, Victoria’s Secret and many other covetable brands to open flagships there. The new Seven store will stock, wait for it, jeans, in addition to sportswear, accessories and a children’s collection launching this fall. The Yorkdale location will be the second Canadian shop—coming after an opening at the Chinook Centre in Calgary—but Toronto’s Seven will celebrate its opening with a party (of course) and a gallery show by seven Canadian artists, called Seven Senses, on Aug. 31. In addition to the sense classics, touch, sight, taste, sound and smell, Seven has lumped intuition and style into the fold, proving, perhaps, that the lessons we learned during our childhood are wrong. This feels just like when we found out Pluto wasn’t a planet.
