Indochino, maker of $500 custom suits, has a semi-permanent shop on King West
Online menswear shop Indochino, known for designing dapper custom suits that won’t strain your wallet, launched a temporary Toronto location in the spring. Now, the British Columbia–based brand has returned with more permanent roots: its first showroom is up and running in the former pop-up space on King West. (Apparently, the plan is to remain open until at least December 31.) Instead of submitting measurements and clicking through styles on a computer, the showroom lets Toronto guys get professionally measured and browse the selection of fabrics and styles in person to build a perfectly unique suit (which, like the online service, is delivered in less than four weeks). A personal stylist is also on hand to dole out expert sartorial advice. It’s a pretty foolproof way to bag a Don Draper–worthy wardrobe. For appointments, click here.

Bought my first suit from them this Spring via the pop-up. I fully made use of their $75 credit for future alterations: the pants were too long and cut wide like bell-bottoms (had to be tapered and shortened), the pant cuffs had to be taken out as they were unworkable and the jacket was cut for a man double my size and had to be taken in.
Three visits to an experienced tailor to get my suit altered into a wearable condition. The measuring experience was great. The post-product experience was horrible. I won’t be going back.
That’s really too bad. My son has about 6 suits from them ( that is all he wears ) and won’t go anywhere else.
Beyond the Indochino ordering experience that can be hit or miss, it’s the quality which has steered me away. None of my 3 Indochino’s survived a year of work when all my other Boss, Canali, ZZegna’s look brand new still after the same work/wear period. It’s worth the upgrade to get quality suits, and Indo’s current $700+ prices are ridiculous when you can get aforementioned brands on sale for Indo prices.
I have 2 Indochino Suits.
The first one I bought online and my girlfriend helped me get measured.
The pants needed major alterations and the jacket had a bit too much waist suppression. I couldn’t wear the suit too the office because it was too ‘fashion forward’, but I do occasionally wear it on a night out.
Fabric quality is OK but nothing great. The pants got a small hole in the side seam after the 3rd time I wore the suit.
So when these guys did a pop up store a few months ago, I gave them another try. This time, I went in and got measured in person by one of their staff.
4 weeks later, the suit shows up and the pants fit well but the jacket was horrible.
Once again the jacket was a horrible fit. After going to a tailor and getting his opinion on alterations (about $80 to alter the jacket and make it fit right), I decided to just return it and move on.
My body is fairly average. 6’1″ 180 lbs.
They can be hit or miss after talking to some friends who had good and bad experiences.
But they couldn’t get it right when they measured me in person so I won’t be coming back.
Good to know. I was going to go in an buy a suit from them. Indochino Suits if you’re reading this. Step up your fabric game and your final product quality (sizing) and I’ll be buying.
