Pop-Up Pick: at Indochino’s temporary tailor, you can custom-design a dream suit—for under $500
Toronto’s retail pop-up scene is gaining momentum, with new shopping opportunities emerging (and then disappearing) all the time. We’re keeping a lookout for the temporary shops you don’t want to miss.
At Indochino, an online menswear shop started by a pair of University of Victoria grads, it’s possible to purchase high-quality, made-to-measure suits at off-the-rack prices. The store’s website lists 60 totally customizable suit styles, with multiple options for linings, lapels, buttons, vents and pocket flaps. For a totally virtual retail experience, shoppers can input their selections and measurements online and receive their bespoke garments in the mail, usually within a few weeks. Or, for anyone who feels a bit skittish about buying stuff sight-unseen—and doesn’t mind a little human interaction—there’s this: Indochino’s “travelling tailor” pop-up shop at King and Spadina, where men can examine fabrics and cuts in person, get themselves professionally measured and consult with style pros about their most becoming suiting options.
