Fashion's Night Out may finally be coming to Toronto

According to Toronto-based lawyer Ashlee Froese, Fashion’s Night Out may be coming to Toronto. Froese’s weekly reading of the Canadian Trade-marks Journal (um, a lawyer’s idea of a light read?) revealed an application from Vogue’s parent company, Advance Magazine Publishers Inc., seeking to obtain trademark protection to use the Fashion’s Night Out name in Canada. Fashion’s Night Out is an annual night-time shopping event, originally spearheaded by American Vogue, the CFDA, NYC and Company and the city of New York back in 2009 as a way to boost the economy. No matter what the economy’s current state, the night has become another excuse for designers, industry insiders and regular ol’ shoppers to mingle, drink and browse through the racks. Sounds like a party we wouldn’t mind being a part of.

UPDATE: The City of Toronto has confirmed that Fashion’s Night Out will take place this year on September 6, according to Glow publisher Orietta Minatel.
