The place: A penthouse in a new mid-rise building on the waterfront, about halfway between Sugar Beach and the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.

The history: After a decade of planning and construction, this building was finally completed last year. The current owners bought this unit as a pied-à-terre, but haven’t used it much.

Big selling point: Architect Peter Clewes succeeded in his goal of maximizing views of the lake, at least in this suite. The home takes up one end of a three-floor cantilevered bridge that sits atop two adjacent buildings. There are views to the east, west, north and—best of all—south.

Possible deal breaker: The south-facing balcony doesn’t have a gas hookup, so barbecue enthusiasts may have to make do with electric.
