Neighbourhood: Collingwood Price: $5,950,000 Size: 3,112 square feet (main house) Bedrooms: 6 Bathrooms: 7 Realtor: Holly Stone, Sotheby’s International Realty

The place

A six-bedroom, seven-bathroom farmhouse sitting on a staggering 30-acre estate near downtown Collingwood. The property is a short drive from Blue Mountain Village, OslerBrook Golf and Country Club and Sunset Point Beach.

The history

Three years ago, a Toronto couple working in the tech sector bought this property so their children could grow up with plenty of outdoor play: tennis matches, driving range sessions, snowshoe adventures through the forest. After purchasing the place, they gutted the main home, installed smart-home technology and then converted the barn into a guest suite. Soon after the renos were complete, however, they relocated to Spain to pursue new career opportunities. Now their former home is on the market.

The tour

Here’s the bird’s eye view: manicured lawns, several distinct buildings and a private forest with walking trails.

The brick façade, with its gabled roof and homey porch, is in stark contrast to the contemporary interior.

The foyer is defined by oak floors, slick glass and natural light.

Down the hall is the family room, anchored by a gigantic marble fireplace that emphasizes the vaulted ceilings.

The kitchen has too many cabinets to count. Within them are a Sub-Zero fridge, a wine cooler, two Miele dishwashers and a six-burner Wolf gas stove. The island and countertops are marble.

There’s also a den on the main floor, which is currently set up as a gym.

Some of the home’s coolest features are in the basement, like the movie room with its 85-inch TV and wine fridge.
