A 70-year-old drive-in movie theatre in Prince Edward County just sold for $1.25 million—and the buyers aren’t your typical real estate investors. The Mustang Drive-In, one of the handful still operating in Ontario, has been picked up by a taco operation.
According to the Toronto Star, the nine-acre property near Bloomfield was bought by Ian Chislett, founder of the food brand Rebel Taco, and Aravind Selvaraj, a former Rebel Taco employee. Both say they plan to keep the theatre running. The site’s zoning allows for hotel, motel and restaurant uses. Large developable parcels like this have become increasingly rare in PEC.

The Mustang Drive-In was first listed for sale in 2023 for $1.6 million. The new owners plan to bring their own spice to the operation by infusing the snack bar with Rebel Taco signatures like birria and state fair–style tacos along with Tex-Mex offerings. Chislett and Selvaraj also told the Star that they hope to zhuzh up the attraction with family-friendly games and “the biggest sandbox in the country.”
