The history

First purchased from the Crown around 1880, the island has had only a few owners since. The sellers bought the land back in the early 1960s for $19,000. They left the property bare before finally building this series of cottages in the 1990s.

Big selling point

Views of the island’s towering pine trees were so important to the sellers that they installed mammoth eight-foot-tall windows. All that glass brings the outside in, while keeping creepy-crawlies out:

Possible deal breaker

The separate cottages would be great for a family that keeps different schedules, but, for families with young children, the fact that only one cottage has more than one bedroom may be an issue.

By the numbers

• $3,195,000 • $17,684 in taxes (2016) • 1,765 feet of waterfront • 8-foot-tall windows • 4 bedrooms • 4 bathrooms • 3.435 acres • 2 boat lifts
