Introducing: Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, the haute brand’s new flagship
By Gizelle Lau |
By Gizelle Lau |
Less than a week ago, Toronto hotelier Issy Sharp cut the ribbon on the new Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, a 55-storey tower at Bay and Yorkville containing 26 elevators, hundreds of iPads and a $15,000-a-night royal suite. As fond as we were of the old Avenue and Bloor location, we have to admit that the new hotel—the brand’s new global flagship—is a step up. (For anyone wondering, the iconic old Four Seasons is well on its way to becoming condos.)
Take a photo tour of the new Four Seasons »
The interior was designed by Yabu Pushelberg and features over 1,700 works by Canadian artists and a slightly whimsical dandelion motif. There’s also a watering hole and a “casual fine-dining” restaurant masterminded by Michelin-star chef Daniel Boulud, and a massive spa with views over the city. We recently stopped by to take a look.

Took a friend for a drink to check it out the other day. Very excited. Went to the bar only to be treated as if we weren’t welcomed. The hostess needs to learn how to deal with guests properly. Ritz, Trump, Shangri-la, here I come.
LOL Brad. The hostess was probably in shock that people actually WERE at the bar. LOL.
Also tried to have a drink at the bar only to be told there was a wait list because all the seats were taken/reserved, and that they didn’t want to create “that kind of atmosphere”–what kind of atmosphere??? It’s a bar.
Glad I’m not the only one. The hostess at the bar told a friend and I on a gloomy Tuesday afternoon that all the seats were reserved and that we could sit in the lantechamber and review the menu and she would come and get us when a table was available. If you are going to lie, make sure your customers don’t have a full view into an empty bar.
