A stately five-bedroom, six-bathroom Forest Hill home with a five-car driveway, an additional detached garage, marble all over and a fancy speaker system. It’s within walking distance of Cedarvale Park and the Beltline Trail as well as Eglinton West station and the neighbourhood’s many shops. And motorists are a short drive from both Allen and Vaughan Roads.
This house was originally built in 1929. In 2008, builder and HGTV host Jim Caruk gutted and renovated, with an addition that included a new kitchen, family room and main suite. Timothy Mather Design handled the place’s interior style makeover.

The foyer comes lined with Crema Marfil marble and is flanked by the living and dining rooms.

A reverse view highlights the original staircase, hardwood floors and walkout to the backyard.

Here’s that living room, with tons of crown moulding.

The living room’s windows are vintage leaded glass, and its fireplace is wood burning.

And here’s the dining room, which has enough space for a regal 16-person table. The wainscoting here is a nice nod to history.

Just past the dining room is the servery. It has shaker-style cabinets, a Sub-Zero wine fridge and a Miele dishwasher.

In the kitchen: plenty more storage, a Wolf four-burner range and griddle, a Wolf combi-steam oven, an integrated Sub-Zero fridge and freezer, granite counters, and a marble backsplash.

This breakfast nook comes with a banquette and a bay window.

The kitchen also faces the family room, all of it crowned by pristine coffered ceilings. That fireplace is gas.

The window wall and French doors provide a tranquil framing of the gardens.

Also on the main floor is the powder room, featuring Damask wallpaper and a custom chrome-pedestal vanity with a marble top.

Let’s head to the second floor, where there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. First, the main suite.

It’s fashioned with a trey ceiling plus tons of storage.

The main bedroom’s lounge has a gas fireplace with marble surround flanked by built-in bookcases. That Juliet balcony overlooks the backyard.

Here’s a peek inside the ensuite bathroom. It’s lined with heated floors, marble counters, a tiled steam shower and an oversized cast iron soaker tub by Kohler.

Moving along reveals this secondary bedroom, with more classic casement windows and a huge closet.

Meanwhile, the owners set up this bedroom as a south-facing office.

This shared bathroom has all the frills of the main ensuite, just smaller.

The third floor has two more bedrooms and yet another shared bathroom. Thanks to the original slopped ceilings in this bedroom, the owners were able to create a reading nook across from the bed.

Moving down to the basement highlights the entertainment zone.

There’s also a fitness centre down here, with an attached powder room, mirrored walls and a wire-in for a wall-mounted TV.

The basement powder room has heated floors too.

And future residents will have this nanny suite and ensuite bathroom.

There’s also a basement laundry room with new Maytag equipment.

Outside, residents have access to greenery and lots of lounge space thanks to this stone patio designed by DA Gracey and Associates.

There are plenty of trees, shrubbery and tall fencing for privacy out here.

Here’s a look at the rear of the home.

And lastly, here’s the detached garage, which has space for one car and screams garden suite potential.
