Big Selling Point: The home features incredible historical details, like Gothic-style windows and beamed cathedral ceilings. The lower level, where the kitchen and dining room are located, is full of exposed brick and rough-hewn touches. It looks like something out of another century.

Possible Deal Breaker: Despite its charm, the subterranean kitchen has a cavelike appearance. Also, the home’s overall layout is highly idiosyncratic. Mere Ikea furniture probably won’t get the job done.
